Chandler Chamber Ostrich Festival

Shaggy and Wynonna Judd headline this year’s edition of Chandler’s celebration of its flightless bird ranching history. There will be plenty of food, music and carnival fun. Mecum Collector Car Auction
March 5-9
Mecum Auctions is parked inside State Farm Stadium this week for its sixth annual auction in Glendale, with an estimated 2,000 classic and collector vehicles and approximately 200 pieces of memorabilia up for grabs to the highest bidders. SandFest

These aren’t your typical castles in the sand. A sculpture constructed by the Travel Channel’s Sand Masters will be the centerpiece of SandFest, a two-day celebration of all things granular. Cactus League Baseball

The MLB starts preparing for the 2024 season, giving fans (and snowbirds) a chance to see 15 teams play more than 200 games up close and personal and maybe snag a few autographs from their favorite players, including Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers’ pricey new acquisition, and the 2023 National League Champions, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Storytelling with Photographs

Randy Johnson has never forgotten his passion for photography. Since the Diamondback pitcher retired in 2010, he’s been spotted with a camera on the sidelines of football fields and racetracks or in the mosh pit taking shots of musicians. This exhibition of his work will feature his stunning wildlife photography while on several African safaris. The opening will take place on Feb. 23 from 6-8 p.m. Check website for exhibition hours. Barbie: A Cultural Icon

Dorothy Fratt: Color Mirage
Now through July 21
The term “underrated” gets needlessly thrown around, but it certainly applies to Valley painter Dorthy Fratt. The artist helped commission the public sculpture “Windows to the West” by Louise Nevelson in Scottsdale while her work blazed its own trail in abstraction. “Color Mirage” is the first U.S. exhibition celebrating her art, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
