History: Kaitlyn Wolfe began life in Texas, then lived in London, England, for several years before relocating to Pennsylvania, where she attended college. “My father was an electrical engineer and his job kept relocating us,” she explains. “I came to Arizona for grad school in 2015, completed my master’s of business degree in 2016, and I’ve been here ever since.”

After graduating from college, Wolfe worked for a local architecture and interior design firm, and later for a general contractor. She says working on the architectural as well as on the furniture side of things gave her the technical know-how she needed to pursue that field. “I was interested in interior design and business from a young age. I was infatuated with different architectural styles and materials, and I loved building furniture and watching home improvement shows, and refinishing antiques that I would sell at a higher price. But I thought of it as more of a passion or hobby than a career,” she admits. Wolfe had started out on a biology/pre-med track, but she knew it wasn’t the career she really wanted.

She followed her heart, and the rest is history. She now has her own design studio, a general contractor’s license, and the Shop My Warehouse arm of the business. “Shop My Warehouse came about because I love to travel, to curate and source items from around the world and bring them to Arizona, and to meet with artists,” she offers enthusiastically. She started building collections of furniture, accessories and artwork and opened Shop My Warehouse in what had been a storage space at the back of her design studio. “We call it our hidden gem,” she states. “It’s very nature-inspired and filled with pieces that are unique and that come from such destinations as Europe, South America and Mexico, as well as Arizona and other parts of the United States.”

The Mission: “For me, it’s all about using intentional materials in the home, focusing on things that are deliberate, functional and sustainable. We launched the Shop My Warehouse concept in order to give people more access to that,” Wolfe explains.

The Name: “It’s meant to feel like you’re shopping in a designer’s warehouse, so the products therein are very elevated, highly curated and often one of a kind,” Wolfe says.

The Scoop: Shop My Warehouse is open to the public; a 10% discount is given to trade professionals; and their growing online presence attracts local as well as out-of-state buyers.

The Contents: Treasures include vintage finds, original works and contemporary pieces ranging from seating, rugs, end tables, mirrors, accent pillows, stools and lighting to works of art and a wide and enticing array of ceramic wares, including two lines of dishware and varied collections of handmade pieces from Portugal, Iceland and Norway. Throughout, earth tones, textures and raw materials such as wood, glass, concrete, metal, fabric and pumice abound, with pops of color provided by the art. As for the best sellers, Wolfe estimates that 50% are ceramics and seating, and the other 50% are accessories. “We get so many one-of-a-kind pieces. Everyone resonates with something different, depending on what they connect with,” she points out. When asked about the most unique item in their inventory, Wolfe describes a vintage copper fireplace she found in Palm Springs. A nearby warehouse space holds additional inventory for Shop My Warehouse along with products reserved for Wolfe’s design clientele. “We’re always adding to the inventory, either through local artists we work with or items we acquire globally,” she notes.

The Response: “People feel it’s a very unique curation,” Wolfe comments. “I’ve heard more than one person say they haven’t seen anything like this in Arizona. The price point is approachable, and I think many are surprised by how unique the pieces are.”

What’s Next: Not one to rest on her laurels, Wolfe says she will soon be launching a semi-custom rug collection featuring neutral tones, as well as a ceramic tableware collection comprised of pieces handmade by local artist Andrew “Augusta” Smith of Augusta Pots.
