A Fistful of Colors

Sourced by Western Spirit curators Dr. Andrew Nelson, Henry Terry, Robert Fleck and Natalie Reichert, this exhibition explores the nature of color perception through objects spanning different eras, showcasing how artists, photographers, motion picture studio artists and jewelers have engaged with color throughout history. “Harry Fonseca: Transformations”

In the late 1970s, the late Nisenan Native American artist Harry Fonseca began his “Coyote” series. The main character in these works, seen as a “trickster” in Native American storytelling, is a metaphor for how one changes and defies society’s preconceived notions. VNSA 68TH ANNUAL USED BOOK SALE
