Why This New Scottsdale Kitchen and Bath Showroom is Making a Splash
Lux Kitchen & Bath Gallery is a destination showroom with a plethora of products.
HISTORY: Arizona native Ryan Young began his career in the plumbing industry in 1999, starting as a showroom manager and eventually working his way up to general manager. Years later, he became part-owner of Jetta Bath & Kitchen—a move that sparked his entrepreneurial drive. “After a few years there, I decided it was time to open something of my own,” Young recalls.
Transforming two separate commercial spaces into one expansive showroom, Young and his partners opened Lux Kitchen & Bath Gallery in October 2023. The result: a beautifully executed, open-concept space with boutique flair and interactive elements at every turn.
PRIORITIES: Young envisioned the new space as a destination and had several specific ideas in mind to accomplish that goal. “We wanted an open concept that was segmented, user-friendly, offered a boutique-like appeal and included working products,” he notes. To that end, Dino Trakas set to work on the build-out, which included designing and making custom displays that would give the showroom a unique look and feel. For example, glass shelves in a large window adjacent to the showroom entrance provide a sneak peek of products. A space toward the back offers a different vibe with brick-clad walls surrounding a grouping of four-sided rotating hardware displays surrounded by backlit boards showcasing additional products.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a dramatic ceiling-mounted rain head that showers water into a large circular basin below. “We’re a plumbing place, so it seemed appropriate to have a cool water feature,” Young quips. Nearby is a comfy sitting area with leather chairs, a fireplace and a large TV—a great place for the guys to hang out while their wives shop—and beyond that lies a virtual sea of freestanding bathtubs in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials. Adding to the ambience, soothing scents are diffused into the space throughout the day. “It’s all about the way the space makes you feel,” he adds.
THE GOODS: From luxury brands including Kallista, Gessi, Phylrich, Brizo and Waterstone to quality mid-range lines, the showroom’s product offerings are vast. Think towel warmers, designer mirrors, shower systems, lighting and even cabinetry—from entry-level to full custom. Working products include faucets, shower heads, body sprays, two finished and decorated bathrooms, several kitchen displays, a lengthy double trough decked out with an array of faucets, an outdoor shower, a therapeutic ice bath, a sauna and a steam room. “We’re also able to facilitate the purchase of countertop materials,” Young adds. “We work with homeowners as well as design professionals, and we have an online store for our products that is accessible to all on our website.”
DON’T MISS: Be sure to check out the movable round mirror on a slider over a double vanity; the “workstation” kitchen sink with two faucets; and for those focused on wellness, the working therapeutic ice bath, sauna and steam room.
WHAT’S NEXT: “Our growth has been great; every month has been better than the last,” Young notes. “We are very excited about the future and plan to focus a little more on the trades going forward and have more in-house events, such as our popular Donuts & Dialogue, Lunch & Learn, and Concepts & Cocktails. These are open to the public and feature vendors speaking on a variety of topics.”
ACCOLADES: “It’s not uncommon for homeowners to invite us to their residences to see what we created together. That’s my favorite part of the business,” Young says gratefully. “Having those relationships makes what we do very special.”
