The Botanist

Both inspirational and aspirational, this elegant Scottsdale shop evolved from a shared passion for plants to a creative collaboration between two best friends. The Botanist offers a full suite of services designed to make plant selection and care beginner-friendly, from assisting in selecting plants from the shop to in-home consultations, delivery, installation and maintenance. A variety of large indoor tree specimens fully staged in unique pots fills out the showroom alongside houseplants and pottery of every size. Green Goddess

As one of many Valley nurseries that includes houseplants, Green Goddess features a 7,000-square-foot greenhouse filled with specimens, from hanging plants to large interior trees and succulents. Established in 1977, this nursery is best known for the huge selection of oversized pottery covering its grounds, as well as metal art, statues and fountains. Jade & Clover

Jade & Clover is unique among Valley plant shops in that it’s a build-your-own plant bar for either walk-ins or by reservation for groups of six or more. Pricing depends on chosen plants, pots and accessories, while sand, soil and gravel are included at no additional charge. They also offer a Traveling Terrarium Bar, billed as a hands-on creative experience for team-building events and bachelorette parties held at your event location. Jungle Box

Entering this Central Phoenix shop is like walking straight into a tropical oasis. Two walk-through “jungle boxes” take visitors past a variety of tropical plants growing in a rain forest habitat. In addition to an extensive selection of pots and planters, one of the shop’s specialties is terrariums and vivariums to create a miniature jungle in your own home. Knowledgeable staff will recommend the right plants and even add a tiny critter or two in the form of adorably colorful Azureus froglets, also known as poison dart frogs, under 2 inches in length at maturity.

Located in a historic brick building on Mill Avenue in the heart of downtown Tempe, The Plant Mill bills itself as Arizona’s first plant co-op, with an emphasis on sustainability and community.
