Infinitely more engaging than high school geometry, Desert Botanical Garden’s “Light Bloom” is a fanciful convergence of nature, shape, shadow and light. “The most surprising and fun part for me as a photographer was capturing the intricate patterns cast across the garden paths, allowing all sorts of abstract compositions to be made,” says photographer Lori A. Johnson, who snapped this picture in October.

Created by artists Yelena Filipchuk and Serge Beaulieu, the exhibit runs through Jan 20.
