This Colorful Remodel Blooms With Floral Prints and Chic, Feminine Embellishments

A Silverleaf estate reflects the vibrant personality and taste of its owner.

With its delightful “Alice in Wonderland” quality, a Silverleaf home unfolds like a vivid dream, where unexpected hues and textures playfully blend with classic elegance. Jaunty botanical wallpapers, candy-colored paint, graphic tilework and billowing draperies create an atmosphere of joyful surprise at every turn. “It was created for a young family who loved classic elements but wanted a home full of personality,” interior designer Kim Scodro explains. “Our goal was to bring in a bit of whimsy while still maintaining a sense of sophistication.”

The homeowner, a mother of two with a background in fashion and decorating, envisioned her sanctuary as warm, vibrant and reflective of her personality. “I loved the bones and the energy of the space,” she shares. “Being surrounded by beautiful things lifts my mood. I’m drawn to florals because they’re feminine, and color makes me feel happy and alive.”

Scodro’s team reimagined the Mediterranean-style abode as a transitional space infused with European elegance. They created subtle connections between rooms using a recurring palette, with warm pinks threading throughout. “There are underlying themes,” says Scodro. “The pink in the breakfast room flows into the powder room, where a gorgeous pink vanity awaits. Every room has its own personality, but they all relate to one another.”

Each family member’s unique style finds expression in their spaces. The owner’s 11-year-old daughter “definitely knew what she wanted,” Scodro laughs, describing the girl’s insistence on a white silk rug and a lovely lavender sofa at the foot of her bed. In the son’s room, Scodro focused on textures, creating a cozy reading nook where he could relax. “The way things felt was important to him,” she says, so they incorporated rich, tactile fabrics to match his preferences.

Hand-painted wallpapers anchor the home’s bold yet refined style, becoming focal points in rooms such as the dining area and foyer. “They’re showstoppers,” Scodro remarks, explaining how these details allowed her team to balance modern touches with ornate flourishes. Rather than play it safe, they embraced an adventurous palette. In the dining room, for instance, the homeowner recalls a defining design choice: “Kim suggested a white lacquer table, but I countered—what about purple lacquer instead?” This daring decision became a signature of the room’s character.

Reflective light fixtures and mixed metals add a jewelry-like sparkle to the home, capturing and diffusing light. “In many ways, I dressed the home like I dress myself,” says the owner. “I’m not afraid of bold prints, and I love crystals and shimmer. I want everything to be shiny and bright, to bring joy and energy to each space. ”

While the home dazzles with its maximalist charm, Scodro made sure it was designed for real family life. “My 10-year-old boy runs around with a basketball,” the homeowner quips. “I’m not attached to anything—furniture can be replaced. This house is beautiful but comfortable, with everything coming together like pieces of a puzzle.” Scodro concludes with a smile: “Nothing in this house is off-limits. It’s as glamorous and spirited as the family who lives here.”
