History: A Scottsdale native, Tom Reimers has seen the Phoenix area change over recent years, both in terms of size and residents’ taste in design. An Allied Member of ASID, Reimers ran a local decor shop for more than 15 years before deciding to start his own interior design firm in 1997. A decade after launching DS The Studio, he expanded the concept and opened a nearly 6,000-square-foot showroom at The Shops Gainey Village.

Philosophy: Reimers describes the store as a refined, classic take on traditional Tuscan, but with a different spin. “I like to bring in Traditional elements with a Contemporary twist,” he explains. “I’m always trying to find unusual finishes and fabrics.”

What’s in store: A full-service showroom and design firm under one roof, DS The Studio offers an assortment of furnishings, accessories, fabrics and more. Find such wares as hand-painted woven leather storage ottomans, hair-on-hide decorative boxes, and tapestry pillows. Furniture is available for every room in the house, as are original oil paintings, flooring, lighting, rugs, wallcoverings and an assortment of accessories. The store carries items from more than 150 manufacturers, including Century, Maitland-Smith, and Woodland.
