HISTORY LESSON
For 25 years, experts at Carl Moore Antiques have been helping Houston clients choose such items as a special armoire, chest or found piece that adds “spark” to a room.

“Part of our job is to curate a collection and educate people on how a particular item relates to everything else in a room,” says owner Geoffrey Westergaard. “We are interested in helping people understand why you would want to purchase antiques, which have a style you can’t get from new pieces of furniture.”

The 5,000-square-foot showroom offers English, Continental and Chinese antiques, such as the 19th-century gilded scholar’s cabinet (pictured). “We’re finding people aren’t so much concerned with a certain ‘look’ anymore,” explains Westergaard. “Now it’s about using unique artifacts from the past, no matter what culture they came from.”

Peruse the company’s offerings, which also include reproductions, at 1610 Bissonnet St., or call (713) 524-2502. Or, go to carlmooreantiques.com, which lists every showroom item, along with 90 percent of the warehouse inventory.
