Pure DreamsTaking a snooze in organic bedding made from chemical-free textiles and dyes might not solve your snoring issues, but your lungs will be grateful. With a goal of improving homeowners’ indoor air quality, Dallas-based Anna Sova Luxury Organics manufactures eco-safe sheets from cotton, silk, Belgian linen and Italian Jacquard. The 4,000-square-foot showroom, located at 2259 Valdina St., also carries zero-VOC wall finishes, 100-percent organic cotton towels, aromatherapy products and soy-based candles. In addition, window hardware crafted from bamboo or post-consumer waste material and designed by Anna Sova’s sister venture, Antique Drapery Rod Co., can be found here. For those who want to add a personal touch to their bedding or towels, monogramming in a variety of styles is available. Pictured here are monogrammed 460-thread-count organic cotton sheets from the Bellissimo Collection.
The organic product lines are offered by numerous shops around the nation; check the firm’s Web site,

Tree HuggerWhile an impressive 156 solar panels line the roof of Nativa’s new 10,000-square-foot San Diego storefront, the company’s commitment to going green is not just for show. The shop, which opened last fall and is the third in the area, displays handcrafted furniture that is fashioned mostly from sustainably harvested rainforest woods. Spanish and Mediterranean in style, the goods are made with traditional techniques, including tongue and groove, dovetail and mortise-and-tenon joinery. In addition to its own collections, Nativa carries furnishings from South Cone, Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams, and others. Pictured here (left to right) are the Patagonia Desk, which is crafted from kiln-dried black ironwood, and the Canyon End Table, which features two hidden drawers.

Fully CommittedOpening a showroom that carries environmentally friendly kitchen cabinetry and furnishings was not quite good enough for Fred Crockett, the owner of ALNO’s showroom in Sierra Madre, near Pasadena, California. To be as green as possible, he made sure the 3,000-square-foot store was energy-efficient and eco-conscious by using low-VOC paints, skylights, water-based foam insulation, low-voltage lighting, and more. Welcoming its first customers almost a year ago, ALNO Pasadena offers the Germany-based company’s cabinetry, which is constructed of both recycled and responsibly harvested wood from sustainable forests and is finished with nontoxic paints and lacquers. Also available are appliances by such manufacturers as Miele and Gaggenau, range hoods by Zephyr and others, plus countertops in a variety of materials. Pictured here is the sleek-looking ALNOART PRO handle-free kitchen with high-gloss lacquered glass doors.
