History:
A common passion for design brought together the owners of Scottsdale retailer Brady Gray. Two years ago, Phoenix native Kristin Altman started working for Kathleen Clements’ design firm in Los Angeles. Soon afterward, they joined forces with Kristin’s mother, Jeanne, to launch the Arizona store, which features Kathleen Clements Home—a line of custom furniture.
Philosophy:
“All of us love the concept of combining,” notes Kathleen, explaining that the boutique carries a unique blend of custom and new furnishings, along with antique pieces. Kristin describes their signature look as “casual comfort with sophistication”—a style she and her business partners felt worked well with the Phoenix area’s ambience and mix of new and historic homes.
What’s in store:
The showroom carries many one-of-a-kind items, ranging from restored 19th-century French chairs upholstered in a crisp white contemporary fabric to a galvanized zinc veneer Empire table. Slipcovered sofas, extra-long benches and shapely settees are a few of the options from Kathleen Clements Home. Other offerings include rugs, such as kilims and Oushaks, Christopher Spitzmiller lamps, vintage paintings, and modern-day artwork by painter Kevin Paulsen and photographer David Halliday. African feather headdresses that have been trans-formed into wall art and tables made from reclaimed wood—including a coffee table constructed of boards from an old pallet—also can be found. Design services are available.

Embellished with gilding, this vintage oak table from Belgium features an ebonized chocolate finish and a horn-inlay
Co-owner Kathleen Clements designed this Ogden Highback chair as part of her custom furniture line. The piece is based on an antique chair found in Paris.
