GOOD AS NEW

Even a rug that has gaping holes or is covered in dirt can be brought back to its original state, and the master weavers at Passion of Persia in Henderson, Nev., claim they know how. Offering cleaning and repair of premium antique rugs, the experts do everything by hand and use traditional restoration techniques whether the piece is Persian, Turkish, Oriental, Tibetan, Indian or Navajo. The company can repair beaded rugs as well, and starting this month will add a submersion cleaning process that involves Jacuzzi jets to its repertoire.

Pictured is a Navajo weaving from the 1920s that had been damaged by dry rot. It is shown before restoration and after being repaired on a loom. The last step in the process is a thorough cleaning and an adjustment of the colors with dye or a specialty wash.

The firm is located at 1716 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Suite 130, and is open by appointment only. For additional information about Passion of Persia’s services and other locations, including Arizona, call (702) 413-3575, or go online to passionofpersia.com.
