Right this Way

The collaborative works of husband and wife John Walker and Roxanne Moore are in the spotlight as Duley-Jones Gallery in Scottsdale presents “Walker Moore: Painting in Harmony,” Nov. 1-30. The pair works together (though not always at the same time) to create alluring, beautifully serene depictions of doorways, stairs and passageways. Using the time-tested medium of casein—a water-based medium that incorporates milk protein as a binder—the artists evoke a sense of mystery and curiosity. After Hours Gallery—116 W. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, alldecksonhand.org, (602) 710-2398. National and Arizona-based artists share one-of-a-kind works of art on skateboard decks as part of “All Decks on Hand,” a skateboard deck art auction. A collaboration between the gallery and Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center, the exhibit showcases more than 200 decks created by artists, including 30 designed by teens and young adults affected by autism. The show opens with a First Friday reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 6 and continues through Dec. 4.

Bonner David Galleries—7040 E. Main St., Scottsdale, bonnerdavid.com, (480) 941-8500. “Infinite Harmony: Shona Sculpture Show,” through Nov. 4, features the latest works in carved stone by Collen, Wellington and Agnes Nyanhongo, a family long respected for its work with Shona sculpture. “Romantic Reflections: Introducing Peregrine Heathcote” showcases paintings by the figurative artist. A reception for the artist takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 5, with the exhibit continuing on display through Nov. 30.

The gallery showcases Contemporary Western paintings and horsehair baskets, with a reception from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 7, in conjunction with the Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival. The exhibit continues through Dec. 2.


Art and Identity

Larsen Gallery in Scottsdale showcases works by Fritz Scholder (1937-2005), through Dec. 31. The collection includes original paintings with an emphasis on work from the early 1970s, as well as monotypes, drawings, graphics and sculpture. Interpretations of man’s best friend by such artists as Sheridan Brown, Mitch Henderson, Trevor Mikula and Ryan Hale are the focus of “Fashion Hounds,” which opens with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 5 and continues on display through Dec. 2.

Deer Valley Rock Art Center—3711 W. The center hosts its fifth-annual American Indian Heritage Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 21.

DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun—6300 N. Swan Rd., Tucson, degrazia.org, (520) 299-9191, Ext. 112. “DeGrazia: 100 Years, 100 Works,” which commemorates the centennial birth date of renowned Arizona artist Ted DeGrazia, is on display through Jan. 15. Included in the exhibit are 100 significant examples of the artist’s work, arranged chronologically, showing viewers the wide range of mediums and styles the late artist worked with throughout his extraordinary career.
