A NEW LEAFDesigned by Ronald Redding for York Wallcoverings, this broad-leaf pattern from the Special Effects II Collection is an eco-conscious statement-maker.

The product’s name, Natural Leaves, describes the essence of the handmade organic wallcovering, which is crafted with sustainable magnolia leaves and fibers. Company literature notes that a special process eliminates pulp from the leaves but preserves their delicate veins. The strippable and washable product has a paper backing, and its water-based adhesive is said to be nontoxic.

Natural Leaves is available in red (pictured), black, brown and green colorways.

Shop major paint and wallpaper outlets such as Dunn-Edwards Paints and Sherwin-Williams to purchase, or visit yorkwall.com to learn of stores in your area. Allow between one and three weeks to receive your order.

CARRY ONFrom Europe2You, this versatile Vintage Flower Bulb Tray takes its inspiration from a French piece that was used for holding flower bulbs.

Re-created from 19th-century European reclaimed timber, its bottom is made from vintage metal screening, and its corners are strengthened with old hardware.

Suggestions for utilizing the handmade tray include holding flower bulbs, carrying fresh plants, storing newspapers and magazines, or serving as a tabletop centerpiece filled with fruit.

The product can be ordered through Rustic Stuff in Scottsdale, (480) 596-0345, or by calling Europe2You at (404) 474-1610, or e-mailing the company at info@europe2you.com.

BOOKSHELFInstead of fighting the elements, you might want to take advantage of them with ideas provided in Green $ense for the Home: Rating the Real Payoff From 50 Green Home Projects (The Taunton Press). As an example, for residents of the Southwest—where days of sunshine can exceed 300—authors Eric Corey Freed and Kevin Daum advise going solar for electrical and water-heating needs. The book rates the value of several other eco-conscious concepts and provides readers with information on a wealth of green-oriented sources and
materials. —LeeAnn DiSanti
