LIGHT FANTASTIC Jayne-Young, a Newport Beach, California, company, is giving old pots new life by turning the metal cooking and washing vessels into one-of-a-kind light fixtures for the home.
Found in many parts of the world, all of the well-used pots are said to have been handcrafted of copper or brass, many as long as 150 years ago; and all have the patina of age, which artisans who make the conversion seek to preserve, the company reports.
Before the transformation to lighting begins, each pot is issued a certificate of authenticity and affixed with an identification plate. All of the designs come with both incandescent and energy-saving CFL lamps.
