PILLOW TALK

E. Alexander Designs has taken recycling to a higher level with opulent-looking pillows. Emily Alexander, the California firm’s namesake, scours European antiques shows, flea markets and auctions for 17th-, 18th- and 19th-century Aubussons, tapestries, needlepoints and other textiles.

She then incorporates these finds into one-of-a-kind pillows. Filled with high-quality down, they are backed with premium silks, velvets and linens and defined with antique trim.

Pillows shown are: left rear, 17th-century tapestry angel image; right rear, 17th-century tapestry with a woman under a canopy of garlands; front, an 18th-century Aubusson fragment with a crown motif.

IT’S A WRAP

Tired of sending wrapping paper to the landfill? You might want to consider reusable BOBO Wraps. Made of leftover fabrics from previous manufacturing runs, the scarflike wraps require no scissors or tape. They are simply tied around presents and adapt to their shapes. The idea was inspired by the ancient Korean tradition of wrapping items in fabric bojagis, company sources say.

The product is available in multiple colors and prints—including Asian brocades and a wedding motif—plus special fabrics for the holiday season. Sizes are: small, 21" by 21"; medium, 27" by 27"; and large, 35" by 35". To view options and to order, visit bobowrap.com
