I find this striking powder-coated and painted steel sculpture a brilliant solution for a small space. Created for a Phoenix home by Arizona artist Kevin Caron, and measuring 88"H x 52"W x 8"D, the site-specific conversation piece is tucked in a narrow niche near the entry door, in a spot originally intended for either a fountain or plants. Unlike those options, however, the sculpture offers a low melodic tone when struck with its accompanying mallet and does not require water, sunlight or regular maintenance.
