Plumed motifs are tickling our fancy in new ways

It’s that time of year again when thoughts of spring sprout and the desire to spruce up and refresh the nest can’t be subdued. One of the most intriguing and regionally relevant design trends du jour is the feather motif. Featured on furniture, fabric and accessories, feathers can make your abode positively chirp with charm. Check out some of our faves on the pages ahead.

Made of forged iron, this set of sconces from Hinkley’s Lighting Factory boasts handcrafted feather and tie details, a hand-applied rustic umber finish and a wax candle. Each measures 16"H by 6"W.

From Urban Outfitters, the Magical Thinking Feather Curtain Tie-Back is crafted of iron, features a gold finish and measures 3"H by 4"W by 8"L.
With abundant texture and layers of color, Winfield Thybony’s Feathers Wallcovering from the Specialty Effects collection is handmade and adorned with real pheasant feathers. Available at Kravet Fabrics.


This black-and-white feather photograph—one in a set of four from Jayson Home—has been printed on handmade paper and is hand-signed. Each measures 35.25"H by 24.75"W.
Hand-forged by blacksmiths at the Scottsdale Art Factory, this wrought-iron handle has a heat-applied iron oxide patina. This one measures 16"L by 3.25"W, but handles can be custom-sized for any door.
