SEEING REDWhat can you do with all those tiles and stuff left over from various projects?
Architectural designer Clay Scrivner pondered this question when he came up with the idea for this fountainlike sink, installed near a backyard barbecue.
He had used the colorful tiles to clad an outdoor banco, and gained an antique iron faucet when a water feature elsewhere on the Arizona property needed only two spigots instead of three.
Scrivner decided the remaining tiles would make a stunning backsplash for a stone-trough sink, and that the faucet could be put to use when grilling. “Hot- and cold-water controls on the adjacent wall turn the water on and off as needed.”
The homeowner is delighted with the outcome, noting, “It’s utilitarian, but why not have something pretty as well?”
