IDEA FILEA Scottsdale couple came back from a trip to France with something more than souvenirs—a très chic plan for an in-shower sink.
“The original idea came from a hotel we were staying at in Paris,” says the wife.
There, directly inside the bathroom’s s
hower, before an “unfoggable” mirror and over a sink, her husband experienced the joys of shaving in a moist atmosphere. And she, too, found the concept beneficial for facial scrubs and the like.
Inspired, the two returned to Arizona and “immediately” incorporated the sink-in-shower design into their plans for building a new house.
Interior designer Annette Kenner translated the couple’s wishes within that residence’s master bath steam shower.
Under a fog-free mirror, a marble vanity fitted with a textural vitreous china sink hangs on a glass-tiled shower wall.
In this stylish setting, “The walls, the ceiling and the floor are all glass mosaic tile,” notes Kenner.
Of her clients’ spa-like bath, she says, “They love it—they absolutely love it.”
The homeowners, whose residence was featured in the November 2009 issue of Phoenix Home & Garden (“Cross-Cultural Retreat”), happily concur.
