April 2009 Shopping List For Gardeners

Author: Nancy Erdmann
Issue: April, 2009, Page 135
OUT OF THE BLUE
The petite Vase de Sivignon looks pretty as a picture when filled with your favorite blooms. Mouth-blown and hand-finished by glassblowers in France, each vase is individually made and ranges in size from 5 to 6 inches tall. It comes in Smoke/Cobalt (pictured) and Blue/Brown and can be found at quelobjet.com under the Home Accessories link.

HIP HOUSE
Created with small birds in mind, this birdhouse from the Retro Chic collection by Rosso’s International is fully functional. Some of its perks include vents for airflow, a no-perch-style opening to deter predators, a back door for easy cleaning (pictured), and a sloping galvanized roof that prevents water accumulation. Decorated with nontoxic paint and available in several patterns, it can be found at Southwest Gardener, (602) 279-9510; swgardener.com.
COOL CAN
Designed to look like a bottle, the Kiwi Watering Can from Alessi is all about form and function. Made from thermoplastic resin, the 2-liter container features a long stainless steel spout, and its balanced shape makes it easy to pour. The can takes up little space when stored vertically on its flat back. Find it in several colors at Alessi at City North, (480) 563-4448.
