Common name: Desert marigold
Botanical name: Baileya multiradiata
Plant type: Perennial native wildflower
Blooms: Bright-yellow daisylike flowers that are 1 to 2 inches in diameter
Bloom season: Year-round
Mature size: 1 foot tall and wide
Water needs: Drought-tolerant but blooms better if watered during long dry spells
Where to plant: Full sun in well-drained soil; takes reflected heat
When to plant: Sow seeds in fall; transplant from pots in spring or fall.
Maintenance: Deadhead (remove) spent flowers.
Note: May be short-lived but reseeds readily
