Don Ziebell could never forget how good it felt as a kid in Maryland to come home from the beach and wash away sand under an outdoor shower. Years later, as an architect living in Scottsdale, he added one to his own home. The private sanctuary is located in an Old World-style courtyard “just two steps” off the master bathroom.
Vintage-looking, the shower itself has a large shower head of unlacquered brass, exposed piping, and instant hot water from a recirculating system. A happy Ziebell says he hasn’t taken a shower indoors in three years.
