Author: Cathy Cromell
Issue: September, 2014, Page 143

ASK THE EXPERTS

Q - Should roses in the Phoenix area be pruned in fall?

A - Trim roses lightly in September only to remove old and dead canes. According to the Mesa-East Valley Rose Society (roses4az-mevrs.org), major winter pruning should be done from late December through early February to maximize flower production and size.
