Gardening advice on using shade cloth for vegetables

Author: Cathy Cromell
Issue: May, 2013, Page 119

Q - What percentage shade cloth should I use on vegetables and when should I cover them?

A - Fifty-percent shade cloth is usually sufficient for vegetable plants, says MCCE Master Gardener Olin Miller. Shade cloth can be added around mid-May through summer. However, blooming plants need morning sun, so you may need to pull the cloth on and off during the day.
