Turf Tube

GRASS ROOTS
While working on a design for an urban infill project, Phoenix landscape architect Michael Dollin and his team came up with the idea for Turf Tube™, a comfortable, lightweight, indoor/outdoor seat. The Contemporary-style piece is constructed of rustproof galvanized steel, plastic lumber and artificial turf. According to Dollin, the turf dissipates heat quickly and withstands rain and intense sunlight.

Locally manufactured, the Turf Tube is durable, easy to transport, and its base can be used for storage. The seat, which measures 18 inches high, comes with or without a logo. A miniature version—the 12-inch-tall Tot Tube—also is available. Find them at Urban Earth Design, (602) 285-3055, or log on to urbanearthdesign.com/turf-tube.

TIP: Recycle your plastic nursery containers and trays by dropping them off at Phoenix-area SummerWinds Nurseries. —summerwindsaz.com
